Bill was a difficult customer. His facial expression was constant, a tight-lipped “I’ve had it up to here with you idiots” kind of look. Add to that look an unending barrage of petty criticism and complaints and Bill was hard to love.
For heavy objects and high storage, nothing beats a forklift. It’s why much of our shelving is designed around working with forklifts. But with all the options, picking a forklift can be tricky.
These forklifts obviously have gas powered engines, either using unleaded, diesel, liquid propane gas, or compressed natural gas. Because they use gas, they can be refilled on the fly, always for continuous operation as long as you have gas.
Heights of different steel sets can range from 96 inches all the way up to more than 144 inches. Remember these pieces many times can be stack on top of each other and bolted down together, by doing so you can get 2 or 3 tiers really adding to height of your pallet rack. The width and depth are adjustable as well. This ability to customize the size of the storage area is essential. Yet many times owners will not take into consideration that they can reconfigure their pallet racks to better suit their changing needs. All of the space you can create with a little customization goes a long way. More storage mean being able to buy in bulk when prices are lower and create a rather nice turn over.

The system is designed to move the boltless rack intact with material still on the storage system. Down time, labor costs, and equipment costs are saved due to minimal product displaced, no rack demolition, and no re-assembly of the boltless rack.
Now, if you are on the lookout for pallets racks, you will want to make sure you keep your eyes peels online. There are a number of sites where you can get information about people selling used racks from a warehouse that has closed, or a warehouse that has updated their pallet racks for the newer version or a heavier duty version.
A year later, some state-of-the-art performance snafus necessitated a meeting with tour manufacturer’s service manager, my service manager, myself and my regional general manager, along with the customer’s plant manager, operations manager, and Bill, starring again as Mr. Hyde, who had not moved on. At lunch, I held the door for all to enter the restaurant, then I took the last remaining seat, next to Bill.
