Everyone is searching for a way to stay healthier and younger longer. Almost all of adult onset illness is due to degenerative diseases that afflict us as we age. Anti-aging medications and supplements are all the rage, but did you know that taking a couple minutes out of your day for meditation can be just a potent as medication?
People are free to be nude at the baths. Only the occasional person wearing a bathing suit seems somehow out of sync to me. People honor their own comfort level. Relaxation and soaking are good and healthful things to do. Massage and the baths really go together well.
For those that don’t want to go at it alone, there are many buddhism baltimore. Some are associated with a Buddhist or Tibetan tradition, and there are non-affiliated groups as well. The Internet is a great resource to find a meditation group in your area. If you can’t find one, consider starting your own. And if a group seems to daunting, partner with a friend that is also interested in meditation. Along with joining a group or partnering with a friend, comes the benefit of accountability. This can help foster commitment to a regular practice.
We will start with the physical. T’ai Chi. The form, which is a long series of moves and is a fundamental exercise of the art is typically practised slowly. The aim being to soften the movements and to keep the body and the mind flowing in harmony from beginning to end.
Research has shown that making small lifestyle changes can add up to 15 years to your life. You may be asking, “Well, what about genetics? What role does genetics play?” Dan Buettner, author and aging research expert says only 10% of how we age is determined by genetics. The other 90% is controlled by you and the lifestyle choices you make. It has been shown that groups of people who regularly use de-stressing and coping mechanisms such as meditation and prayer live much longer healthier lives.
I am going to share a really simple practice to get you started. But do what works for you. This is simply a recommendation. Keep in mind that whenever you start something new, complexity is the enemy. Complexity just creates more opportunity for resistance to creep on in. With meditation, as with anything in life, when creating change, keep it simple. Make it workable. Set yourself up for success. So, here we go.
